These patchwork patches are all made from scraps, and each one is unique. I made a few of these as gifts for family last year and really liked seeing how everyone used them on their clothing and bags in fun ways.
So I made a couple for the shop, for you :)
These can be used to cover up an unwanted logo or a stain, to reinforce a worn area, or just to add some interest to an article of clothing. (Please see the dropdown menu 'Patch Placement' for instructions and recommendations about suitable items). Or put it in a frame as a piece of art :)
Please add a note to your order if you would like to have iron-on adhesive added to the back of your patch. This can be used to iron the patch directly onto your item; I do however recommend adding some stitches (either by hand or with a sewing machine) to make sure that it holds well.
If you’re in Cape Town and would like to attach a patch to an item of clothing, I’ll happily do it for you for no extra charge at the studio, just add a note to your order to let me know.
Please pick which patch you would like to purchase from the dropdown menu.
Patch 1: 11.5 x 10.5 cm
Patch 2: 9 x 14 cm
Patch 3: 9.5 x 10 cm
Patch 4: 8 x 13.5 cm

Patch Placement
These patches are best suited for thicker clothing items, such as cotton jackets, hoodies, jeans, or tote bags. They can occasionally be placed on a sweater or thicker t-shirt, but keep in mind that they don't stretch and won't hold up well if placed on an elbow or shoulder, and could even damage the surrounding area with wear and tear. If you have any doubts or questions about where to place your patch, please feel free to email me at lucie@sofarstudio.co.za

Iron-on adhesive
How HeatnBond - Ultrahold Iron-On Adhesive works:
You just remove the paper backing, place the patch over the area you’d like it to adhere to, and iron on. I’ve found that ironing for 15 seconds at a time, then turning over / inside out and ironing the back for another 15 seconds helps a lot to get it to stick well. Repeat a few times if needed. Once ironed, make sure to set aside for at least 30 mins before manipulating it.
I’d also recommend machine sewing around the patch or hand stitching for extra durability.
